What does Hebrew Roots Mean?
Reply Quote

Shalom all,

There is a big movement out there right now of people returning to Torah. Many Christians are curious of the roots of their faith. Now many may say their Jewish roots. This is where I disagree. Hebrew roots is more accurate. The Jews are people taking hold of the covenant made with Avraham. Now the next question is are the Jews we see today the tribe of Judah(Yahudah) of the bible. I believe they are a mixture of mostly Judah some Edomites that were converted to Judaism during history, and some of the other tribes of Israel as the scriptures say Judah and his companions Israel. Then it says Efrayim and ALL his companions Israel. I'm talking about the two sticks or two houses. Many people today think if they start to study Torah they need to convert to Judaism, or adopt all the traditions of the Jews. I disagree. Though we see the Jews and not much of the greater house of Israel that God scattered and hid in the world(Efrayim), we should learn only the things that are from Torah, not the things added to it. People almost become Jew worshippers or wannabe Jews. I love my Jewish brothers but am not looking to join their religious group. What I have in common with them is a love for Torah. We can learn from them. They have many things we can learn from and things they do that they may not understand without the understanding of Messiah. We should neither reject them, nor Join them, but as with anything else examine them and pull out the things of Torah and leave behind anything that conflicts with Torah.

This is an important topic for everyone now coming to Torah. Because people need to see with their eyes they many times run to the Jews to mimic them, But I follow the unseen God and though I can learn from those who have studied Torah for thousands of years they are not the deal. They are one part of a bigger picture and what holds it all together is the Torah both in Letter and Spirit. Isaiah 56 says if you take hold of the covenant  (Avraham's Covenant) keep the sabbath from polluting it, and do things that please God he will give you a name better than sons and daughters(all12 tribes of Israel) So that no one can say there is no place for me in the house of God. Israel even in slavery wasn't righteous, It was God remembering the promise to Avraham that caused him to bring them out. People need to understand this to know their place in the house of God and to not start thinking everything Jewish is of God. All Israel made mistakes, yet YHWH says don't think it is because of your righteousness that I bring you into this land, it is because of my promise to Avraham. So let's truly study our Hebrew (all 12 tribes of Israel) roots and return to the Torah and not confuse the Jews and things Jewish as that of the Hebrew people, but simply a small part of a bigger picture. Shalom!

I am new to the hebraic roots, coming from a christian belief and wanted to know where all the different christian beliefs came from.So I started to attend a messianic assembly and was blown away with what the christian belief was not telling me.There are many other christians who are not being told about their hebraic roots and we need to let them know about the understanding and blessings it is that YHWH wants us to know.So keep our christian brothers and sisters in prayer.shalom

Shalom,

I agree, I wasn't into alot of Christian religion growing up , but as I started just by picking up the Bible and reading, I found there was a big difference between what was being taught to Christians and what the bible said. One of the reasons for this website, is to handle many of these arguments so people can be better educated. I plan on doing a series of cd''s and books called Breaking the Chains that will deal with these Teachings that are restricting followers and holding them in slavery to bad understandings of the Bible. Shalom!

Amen. I absolutely agree. I have been somewhat studying the Hebraic roots of our faith for about 3 to 4 years but have come to the knowledge that we are to keep Torah about a year ago.  I have been a follower of Messiah for 10 or 11 years now. I believe that Christians do need to be informed of the Hebraic roots of the Christian faith.  I also know that all followers in Yeshua will come to that knowledge on Yahweh's timing.

Baruch Hashem Adonai Yeshua.

Bless the Name of the Lord Jesus.

Blessings in the name of Yeshua,
Matthew
