The goal of this section is to get everybody's studies, thoughts, and opinions on anything in the weeks parasha. This includes, word studies, thoughts on verses, history, related subjects, and anything that may help us to understand this Torah Portion. Even if it's just an observation on the smallest part, it can help others who may not have seen it that way. The goal is then as we visit the parasha (Torah Portion) each year we will create a collection of studies and thoughts on this portion and everyone will benefit by having a broader view of the portion. Shalom!

Sanctify Your Children
For Parasha Acharei Mot / Kedoshim
By Lovingneighbor 5-6-2006
In this weeks dual Parasha we have YHWH talking to Moshe after the death of Aharan's son's, The scapegoat and Day of attonement laws, Offering to devils, Ordinace of eating blood, not keeping the ways of the Egyptians, or Kenanim, Laws of Nakedness an adultery, summary of ten commandments, Wrong mixing of things, Stranger law, just weights, and sanctification.
This parasha starts off with YHWH speaking to Moshe after the death of Nadav and Avihu. Two of Aharan's sons consumed for offering strange fire to YHWH when he appearedto Israel on the eighth day. He instructs Moshe after the removal of half of Aharon's children. They did not according to YHWH and so may not have been recognized as YHWH's children. When children play together there are many children. But when you call your children to sit and eat you know who your children are. They hear your voice, they look like you, and do the things you teach them. Any other children will be sent away as you sit with your children to eat. I believe this is what heppened to Nadav and Avihu. They were sent away for not obeying YHWH and in many ways like the wheat and tares their actions represented they were someone elses children and they were consumed in Fire just as the scripture says:
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Aharon may have not understood that two of his children were not God's children, just as we raise our children as servants so too did the servants of Messiah say:
Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
The reply was no because you will not know which are which. in this way I think it was revealed to Aharon that there were a few tares in his household. YHWH then explains the scapegoat. I believe this ties to not only Messiah who gave his life for us to go free, but also Satan and his children who are suffered for a time to teach God's children but then they are sacrificed so that we may learn that death comes by sin and not obeying YHWH, and life (teaching, Blood) comes from death. It's all apart of sanctifying his children. His children have life and whenthey don't act as his children they are cut off. All cut off from Life are dead. But even in their death it the teaching of his children.
This concept happens all over the scriptures. The beginning of this Parasha YHWH tells Moshe to tell Aharon not to come into the holy of Holies at all times lest he die. To come before God in a unprescribed fashion or too early before God has told you both point to the work God is doing in us. He is sanctifying us and we are looked upon on a regular basis. We are to be made clean and ecceptable every time he meets us. Neither returning to our old sin, nor having his word come before him empty or fruitless. If since last shabbat we have not grow in his word and been changed by it we are returning to him from our last meeting empty. This process is sanctification and is a process. We always have a choice of what we will bring when he visits us. disobediance which will bring Judgment, or an obediant humble heart to God so that even our mistakes can be reconciled.
The day of attonement is a model of judgment. In this judgment we need to afflict our souls in repentance. This is far from standing before him justified just as Messiah points to in the Parable of the two men coming before God:
Luk 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
The word here for justified is innocent or set free. Just as with the Azazel one is sacrificed and one is set free. We teach our children the instruction of God so that they may be sanctified by it and shown to be the children of God. In this once they were sinners and children of the devil because they did their father's works, but now they are reborn as children of God doing his works and they are justified intheir new life fromt he sins of their old life. They have Like Messiah said become innocent again.
Mat 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
