The goal of this section is to get everybody's studies, thoughts, and opinions on anything in the weeks parasha. This includes, word studies, thoughts on verses, history, related subjects, and anything that may help us to understand this Torah Portion. Even if it's just an observation on the smallest part, it can help others who may not have seen it that way. The goal is then as we visit the parasha (Torah Portion) each year we will create a collection of studies and thoughts on this portion and everyone will benefit by having a broader view of the portion. Shalom!
A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.

Blessing and curse
In this portion there is a lot to cover and I will be touching on just
a small part of it. In the beginning of the portion we see the
commandment for the mother's separation for being unclean after she
bears a male child or a female child and then a continuation of
purifying after the days of separation. I'm not sure what the
significance of this is but I noticed that the mother's separation
(and the additional days for purification) for having a female child,
is exactly double the separation for having a male child. It is
possible that this is due to a male child being circumcised on the 8th
day. By making her separation only 7 days instead of 14 for a male
child it allows for a mother to be present during her sons
circumcision. When a child is born it is a blessing, and only YHWH can
give this blessing to you. It isn't something that you can will for
yourself, who are you, that YHWH should conform to your will. Job 1:21
YHWH gives, and the YHWH takes away; blessed be the name of YHWH. With
this blessing come the responsibilities of purification for the mother
and raising up a child in the way that they should go. We are all
responsible for being good stewards of the blessings YHWH gives us.
Also in this portion we have the laws for all manner of leprosy. And
just as with a child, only YWHW can give you leprosy, but form the
text it appears that leprosy comes about as a result of your actions
because you are also cleansed as a result of your actions of true
repentance. Of course there are other actions involved in both
examples child birth and leprosy, I am just stating that YHWH is
sovereign, in that he is the giver of these blessings and curses. Isa
45:5-7 I am YHWH, and there is none else, there is no Elohim beside
me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know
from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none
beside me. I am YHWH, and there is none else. I form the light, and
create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I YHWH do all these
things. Also in the text other than the example of Miriam the sister
of Moshe, I do not believe that any other women or children are said
to have had leprosy. Which is not to say that it could not have
happened I just think that the majority of people that were punished
with the curse of leprosy were men over twenty years of age, because
they are accountable for their actions and for the actions of their
family and household. Also, when someone had been cursed with leprosy
the issue was known in the camp, because you had to go to the priest
and if you were found to be unclean then you were taken outside the
camp. In today's culture when people have an illness it is a private
matter between doctor and patient; unless they want to disclose the
illness to others. The reason for not disclosing our illnesses and
faults today has to do with pride and not wanting anyone to know how
sinful or weak we actually are. Elohim may have set up this system
forcing you disclose your faults to people and your uncleanness to the
priests, and making it obvious to your friends and neighbors around
you of your sin and weakness (whether they be physical or spiritual).
Maybe this was so we would have true accountability to get rid of our
sin. This process would force the people who really care about you to
keep you accountable for your sin. While you are outside the camp the
only way for you to become clean is for YHWH to take away the leprosy
that He has given to you, and for the priest to declare you clean.
Only then can you re-enter the camp and be in the presence of YHWH
again. As with the birth of a child, the act of being declared clean
from leprosy isn't something that you can will for yourself, who are
you, that YHWH should conform to your will. Job 1:21 YHWH gives, and
the YHWH takes away; blessed be the name of YHWH. YHWH gives the
blessing of children and the curse of losing a child, YHWH also gives
the curse of leprosy and the blessing of being declared clean from
leprosy, but only when you are willing to be responsible for your sin,
and be truly repentant, then you can fully receive YHWH's blessing.
Shalom Alechim,
