|
The goal of this section is to get everybody's studies, thoughts, and opinions on anything in the weeks parasha. This includes, word studies, thoughts on verses, history, related subjects, and anything that may help us to understand this Torah Portion. Even if it's just an observation on the smallest part, it can help others who may not have seen it that way. The goal is then as we visit the parasha (Torah Portion) each year we will create a collection of studies and thoughts on this portion and everyone will benefit by having a broader view of the portion. Shalom!

Who Shall be Saved?
By Lovingneighbor
What did the Salvation of mankind look like during the first Judgmment of men on the Earth?
There was a clear line drawn between the 2 types of people on the Earth. First is the description of Noach (Noah) :
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noach: Noach was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noach walked with Elohim (God).
There are 3 traits mentioned about Noach: Just or Righteous, Perfect, doer or walks with Elohim.
Now lets look at the description of those being destroyed:
Gen 6:12 And Elohim looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Gen 6:13 And Elohim said unto Noach, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
There are 2 traits mentioned: Corrupt or Decay, and Unrighteousness or Violence
The only description and reasoning we get from the Bible about the people to be saved vs. the people to be destroyed was, the righteous non corrupt doers would be saved and the spreaders of unrighteousness and corruption would be destroyed.
Is this consistent with the scriptures?
2Sa 22:3 The Elohim of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; thou savest me from violence.
2Sa 22:4 I will call on YHWH, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
2Sa 22:5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
2Sa 22:49 And that brings me forth from my enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
Psa 11:5 YHWH trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Psa 11:6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
Psa 140:1 <To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.> Deliver me, O YHWH, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Isa 60:18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
Isa 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but YHWH shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy Elohim thy glory.
Isa 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for YHWH shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
Isa 60:21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
As we see in this last verse talking about the return of Yahushua and the new kingdom, he says violence will be done away with and in verse 21 he says His people shall be righteous. This models a picture of the time of Noach when the world was judged and violence was destroyed and righteousness lived.

- YHWH saw them building the tower and mixed up their languages and they were scattered
- Generations of Shem given again
- Avram takes a wife, Sarai but she can't have children
- Haftarah Promise to restore His people after they are punished
In this Parasha we see The whole world was in violence. The scriptures say in the last days that it will be like the days of Noach. In particular that they were eating and drinking, giving to mairrage up until the day when Noach entered into the ark. In this weeks parasha we know as soon as Noach entered into the ark it started to rain.
Noach was an exceptional person, just and perfect in his generation it says. Noach believed in Elohim when the whole world could care less. They were self absorbed and He was breaking his back preparing a boat on dry land for a flood that has never happened in that magnitude in all history. He was preparing for an event that has never even happened. How do you prepare for something that has never happened? You maticulously listen and obey the word of Elohim.
I believe we are preparing for such a serious event, and even bigger. We should be warned that the things and cares of the world must be carefully weighed and balanced with the preparation for events to come. Noach wasn't just studying the Words of Elohim, He was acting upon them and working diligently to be prepared for what Elohim told him was coming. How many of us know all the prophecies, How many of us have a real game plan for what is going to happen and what Elohim want's us to do to prepare for it, and what He wants us to do when it happens. If your like me, I know I'm lacking in this category.
Noach was not just a righteous man, but he was willing to do what others around him weren't. Many people have the attitude that we'll figure it out when the rain starts falling. But that is no time to build an ark and like the virgins who had no oil, when the time comes you can't borrow preparedness from someone else. I fear many will be left out in the rain when these events happen. Let us all be sober minded and not just hear these words, but act upon them and make a change in our lifestyles to study Elohim's word and focus on what we can do to be more prepared than we are right now. Shalom!

In ths weeks Torah Portion we see a story of a great man who as th text says was just, perfect, and righteous. These are descriptions Noach can claim are said about him in the Torah. These are not light words in the scriptures and rarely are they used to describe actual people.
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noach: Noach was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noach walked with Elohim.
Gen 7:1 And YHWH said unto Noach, Come you and all your house into the ark; because you have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
Notice in verse 7:1 why he was saved, because he was righteous. Noach went against the grain of the people he was around who didn't prepare and listen to the word of YHWH. I don't even know if they were given the word. What a treasure it is to have the Torah and what does it tell us to do. Prepare. Prepare ourselves for the day of judgment. Yet to many people it is like building a boat on dry land. A waste of time and until the waters are pouring out then they may be interested but it will be too late. Then they may run to those who have been building but the door may be shut. See the same day Noach went into the ark and shut the door the rain started falling. It was too late to come in once the rain started. You had to see it while you had the chance. You had to go against popular belief while you had your chance while it was the unpoplular thing and stupid, and a waste of time.
I fear for many that they are waiting, not doing what is required of them let alone anything above and beyond. How can you become profitable if you can't even break even and do the minimums. It reminds me of the parable of the talents where 3 servants are given something of value ( ie the Torah) 2 of these three do something with it and bring a profit, one more than the other but still both profitable and one has no profit. they didn't lose it, they buried it and brought it back. See people tell themselves that they haven't lost it. They tell themselves they are OK because they they still have it. But having the torah and studying and producing something are two different things. People show up all the time and sit in the pews hearing the word, and in the messianic movement they actually hear the word of Elohim, but this is still of no use if they do not produce anything. The talent which I liken to Torah will be taken from them and they will be cast out because they had it all that time and did not profit from it. They produced nothing. This is like the parable of the servant who works in the field doing what he was commanded to do and nothing more and at the end of the day their is no reward for this. They may consider themselves a unprofitable servant. To profit you must porduce something above what you have been given. This goes into the next point which is there are 2 types of people described in this Torah portion. One who obeys Elohim and his result is his whole household is saved and he survives through a judgment, and the second is men who seek to build a name for themselves and they are scattered and humbled. One who was probably ridiculed by people for doing things unnecessary, and the others who were trying to reach heaven to exalt themselves.
We see this all through the scriptures and Mashiach's response to this is
Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Mashiach; and all you are brethren.
Mat 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Mat 23:10 Neither be you called masters: for one is your Master, even Mashiach.
Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Mat 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
This is a strong warning about not putting people above you spiritually. The context put the punishment on the teachers, but commands the would be followers not to allow it and thus making it a sin in itself to allow and accept these people who are as the text says teying to be in the role of Messiah and the Heavenly Father. They are servants and yet they are trying to put themselves in the role of Mashiach and the Father in Heaven. I see this all over in the religious world and in Torah observance. Man saying they are called by Elohim to share their ministry. Yet Mashiach was called by Elohim. They try and justify their own deeds by saying it is Elohim's will. Which is acting as the will of Elohim to their followers. These men are like idols whose followers become like them. Vain and empty, trees that don't bear the fruit of truth, but poison to those who will sin in following them. Lazy followers who will not lift their finger to do the work of Elohim which is commanded to them. The number one command I think people overlook is that of obeying themselves. If they would obey they would study, if they would obey, they would teach their family, if they would obey they would not try and rule over others but to rule over themselves. This is where the problem is and if you speak against them and their great towers (ie ministry or name for themselves) then they will try and destroy and discredit you. This is exactly what the pharisees did to Messiah who was not fitting into the religion of the day. He had different interpretations of the scripture than the accepted of all the people. He was accused of being unlearned and having a demon. He was cast out any time he raised question to the practises of the leadership. Many were destroyed because of laziness. Because unless you study how will you know, and if you do not know you will err. Like dumb beasts you will come to destruction and cruel masters willrule over you to do their work.
Maybe you see the pattern that Yisra'el was used to build buildings and statues to glorify men. The tower of Bavel was to make a name for themselves. Not to make a name for YHWH but for themselves. How many pastors have said the words my flock. And if you saty anything different than what they are teaching they say they were defending their flock by attacking you. But to say these words you must claim that you ar ethe master and they are dumb followers. And in many ways you are right. What dumb beast follows man and not the true and only shepard. What dumb beast allows themselves to be used by other men. Didn't you hear the verse say don't call anyone rabbi or teacher, why? because they are all your brethren and only Mashiach is your teacher. But men bow on all fours to other men. These teachers who are just sheep trying to stand on two legs so they can strike the sheep with the rod. I look forward to the day when the true shepard comes back and rids the flock of these who want to make a name for themself. Yet the foolish flock who allows this are guilty of all the punishment that happens to those who follow the lies and those who lead you into darkness. Open your eyes and reject these teachers of men and fellowship with them as fellow students and don't sit there listening to them behind the pulpit and on the internet or on a dvd while you bury your Torah in the dirt and show up every sabbath with nothing but your torah in hand to listen to others. Stop building another man's house and start to build your own because who doesn't want free labor. But these preachers will have you building their name as a slave and if it means you won't have to start work on your own house you will let them crack the whip on your back because it's more motivating than what you'll do for yourself. Shame on you and what pity will your slavemasters have on you. You want to find out if your another man's slave. Disagree with your pastor and see how he treats you. If you are his brother and equal he will discuss your varying view points, if he is just another student he will want to hear what you have found. But If he will correct you and cast you out and be offended by your stand against his idea thn that may be an indicator he views you as his lessor and his dumb beast. He will show you all th verses about division and contention and wait for you to repent for challenging his views which he believes are the only truth. When people are confronted about their teachings and their first response is you must not understand then you are talking to a proud person. They don't even think they couls be wrong because they see themselves as the teacher. This is someone who doesn't see themselves as just a student. They will say things like check what i'm saying only to insinualte it's obviously true, because if you call thm to the carpet on it they aren't open to restudy it they just want to justify it or smash your idea. Run the test and humble the sheep trying to make names for themselves. If we allow this to go on you and your sheep in shepards clothing will both come to destruction. Stop building the towers of men and start building the house of Elohim which as Mashiach says is your very own body. You are given rule over your own flesh, and by that definition that includes your wife and kids to a degree. What it doesn't include is other men.
At th end of the say will you look at yourself and say I have built a name for myself or will you call yourself an unprofitable servant who has tried to do all that was asked of him and more and that realizes he is not better than his brother. Who ruled over himself and his family and built a house for himself, his family, and ultimatley Elohim. Shalom!
A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
