One Goal
For Parashas Vayak'hel / Pekudei
By Ross Quintana 3-26-2006
This week we have a combination of two parashas and the finishing of the book of Shemot or Exodus. In Vayak'hel we see we get the offerings from all the people to make all the different parts of the Tabernacle or Mishkan (dwelling place of God). In Pekudei we see the accounting taken of all the pieces of the tabernacle then the command by YHWH to Moshe to assemble them and the account that Moshe did indeed assemble them as YHWH commanded.
Many people may find this to be a text to just get through, full of small details that are repetative. But there is alot said and one of the messages that really jumped out to me was that in the house of God there are many different parts. This parasha seems to go into detail about all the little parts that make up the house of God. In the very first sentence we see a stunning model of Messiah in Moshe.
Exo 35:1 And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that ye should do them.
Moshe gathered ALL the congregation of Israel together then it talks about the sabbath, then all the parts of the house are made mention of almost like an inventory of the different parts, Then Moshe starts assembling them into the House of God. Messiah also will gather ALL the children of Israel when he returns in the Millenium the Sabbath. Sorting them out and then assembling them bringing them together as he clothes them is righteousness.
Exo 36:13 And he made fifty tacks of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the tacks: so it became one (Echad) tabernacle.
When he fastened the coverings together it said the tabernacle became Echad. What a beautiful picture this paints. It reminds me of the gathering spoken of in Isaiah 43
Isa 43:3 For I am YHWH thy Elohim, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
Isa 43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Isa 43:5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Isa 43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
Isa 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Isa 43:8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
Isa 43:9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
It's great when he says Every one that is called by my name. It is just like all the different parts of the tabernacle Called to be brought forth and assembled by Moshe. Then in the second part of verse 7 he says for I have created him for my glory. Who is the him? See i believe his glory is represented by his shekinah and it is the temple he created for his glory so he may dwell with us. He formed him and made him. That is us who he formed, and when he assembles us he will make his temple.
1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
This is why We see in It's interesting that if you do a word study on this word gathered you will find it used to describe really 4 people. Moshe who was a shepard and becomes a great ruler, David a shepard brought to greatness and rulership, Shlomo (Solomon) carrying on his Father's work, and Messiah a Great shepard who becomes The greatest ruler. They all gathered and brought together as one (Echad) Israel. All to many times I hear one group being haughty and trying to delegitamatize people who are differnt boasting they are greater. But I believe in the time we are in, we need to remember that there are many parts to the house of God being gathered. When we come together we must realize we each have a part in God's house and encourage each other in our studies and in our walk instead of trying to conform or alienate each other. Messiah says you'll know my disciples by the love they have for one another. This is a powerful message on fellowshipping and how we must all come together even though we're different but come together with one goal. The reason for the creation of the tabernacle: to Dwell with God.
Exo 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
We don't throw out the menorah because we think the ark is more important. All the things were showed to the master builder Moshe and he was to assemble all the parts, not just the ones he liked. it didn't matter if he thought one was useful or understood why it needed to be that way. He gathered the children and assembled the house of God so God would dwell with them. Notice when they sinned that God though willing to Dwell with Moshe would not dwell among the children. The Mishkan after the golden calf was outside the camp. Because the very commandments make us into the the differnt parts of the house of God. They create us in the pattern of holy things. If it is not right God will not dwell among us and our communities. We must each examine our hearts and our walk with God to see if we are walking according to the patter shown us. In the same way he says make all these different parts according to the pattern I gave you. He filled the workers with the Spirit of Elohim. to shape and mold the very parts of the house of God. This is like the Prophets and writers of Scripture. They are shaping us in the fashion God wants. They were inspired and not writing their words but writing according to the spirit of Elohim given to them. We should all have one goal and that is to be a part of the House of God so that we may dwell in his courts.
Psa 27:4 One thing have I desired of YHWH, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of YHWH all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of YHWH, and to enquire in his temple.
A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
