Take an Accounting

For Parasha Nasso Kids

By Lovingneighbor 6-3-2006

This weeks Parasha is in the book of Numbers (Bamidbar) and this Parasha is called Nasso which means "make an accounting"

In this parasha God counts the sons of Gershom, Merari, Kehati, and Levi who are able to serve in the Tabernacle.

He then puts Gershom in charge of all the coverings of the tabernacle

Then he puts Merari in charge of all the boards and framework of the tabernacle

All the people with leperousy, issues, and those defiled by the dead are sent outside the camp

law of tresspasses are given

law of jealousy given

Law of the Natzari given

Aharonic blessing given

Altar dedication by 12 princes on 12 days

Haftarah talks about the promise of Shimshon

Last weeks parasha review

Why Does God count his people?

What is a Standard?

What is a role or duty?

This weeks parasha

Why does God count his servants, and give them their duties?

God puts everyone in their place and tells them what to do. Everything gets done and everyone knows what they are supposed to do.

Why does God require us to give 20% more when we tresspass?

When we wrong someone we also wrong God and we are to not just restore but also it is to cost us something. All sin has a cost to us.

Why Does God punish liars?

It's one thing to sin, but it's even worse if we don't confess it so we can be forgiven. If we try and hide our sin it will only make it worse on us when God reveals it. Confessing our sin is like a bandaid it starts the healing process.

What is a Natzari vow?

When someone chooses to seperate themselves to God they can make a vow or promise and a Natzari vow means they won't eat anything from grapes, strong drink, not cut their hair, and not be defiled by dead people for a certain amount of time. This is a way of showing your dedication to God.

Let's learn the Aharonic blessing

Yivorech'cha YHWH V'Yishm'recha, Ya'er YHWH Panav Elecha V'yechunecha, Yisa YHWH Panav Elecha V'yasem L'cha Shalom

May YHWH bless and guard you, May YHWH shine His face on you and mat He let you find favor, May YHWH lift up his face to you and give you peace.

Let's dedicate the Altar

The 12 princes each brought gifts to dedicate the altar. They brought their offernings in the order God put them. Each one brought their offer on the Day God told them.

Day 1 - Yahudah

Day 2 - Yissakhar

Day 3 - Zevulun

Day 4 - Re'uven

Day 5 - Shim'on

Day 6 - Gad

Day 7 - Efrayim

Day 8 - Menasheh

Day 9 - Benyamin

Day 10 - Dan

Day 11 - Asher

Day 12 - Naftali

Lets Bring our offerings to the temple to dedicate the Altar. ( the group takes turns saying who brings the offering for each day. Afterward children who want to can try and recite the 12 offerning from the tribes in order.

Who is Shimshon?

Shimshon also known as Samson is a child promised by God to begin to deliver Israel from the Pelishtim(Philistines) He was to be a Natzari his whole life.

A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
