The Alarm of War
Yom Teruah 2006-7
by Lovingneighbor

Jer 4:19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maks a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

This years message for Yom Teruah comes from looking at what the use of the shofar is and how the different uses come together. The word for teruah or blowing on this day of blowing comes from the root word roo'ah which is spelled Resh, waw, ayin which in the ancient Hebrew can mean beginning to secure the eyes. It is the word for shout or alarm and what does the alarm do but focus your eyes on what is going on. Many people can't see the war of principalities going on because they don't look around and see the good and evil all around them. then the ones who do may not look inside themselves to be able to see the good and evil within that is waring inside themselves. They just see the evil in others. A blind man is not fit for war because he will be destroyed and yet through pride many self righteous men have internal battles going on inside themselves all the time and they are blind to it. Let's look at the word for war. It is Lawkham H3898 is the root and is spelled lamed, chet, mem shich in the ancient Hebrew could be shepard staff , divides the waters. Hmm sound like anything we have heard of before. The root word for war is first use in Ex 1:10 when there rose up a new pharoah. This was the point there started becoming a seperation between Elohim's people and the people of the world. In this word the lamed has the meaning of shepards staff and also to teach. Messiah is the teacher and His teachings cause division between light and darkness. This is what the voice of Elohim did in the beginning when he seperated light and darkness.

See the shofar is likened to the voice of YHWH. When He speaks His words to people like Noach and Avraham and they obey the result is they become seperate from others and holy to YHWH. Hearing the voice of Elohim is a warning you are about to be seperated and thus at war with others once they see you are different then them.

Luk 12:51 Suppose you that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, No; but rather division:
Mat 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Notice division and a sword which divides are the result of the teacher coming. Just like the word Lawkham starts with the lawmed or shepards staff it causes division. Moshe did this as the first teacher of Yisra'el and Messaiah had the same effect on Yisra'el the Torah causes a division between Yisra'el and other nations on the outside, but then the spirit of Torah causes division of men within Yisra'el. Some hear the alarm of the shofar and only look at other people to compare themselves to others and consider themselves safe and holy, while others in Yisra'el hear the alarm of their own lawlessness and look inside to gaurd the gates of their spirit and soul and these can hear the loud sound of the shofar within themselves warning them of their own sin.

Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

They have been warned of the battle and are being called into battle on the inside. Many do not hear this inner shofar and thus they may be destroyed.

Eze 33:4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

The shofar is used to make the oath to YHWH that Yisra'el will do all He says and love them with their whole heart and soul. O' that there was such a heart in them. The shofar was an alarm of war and internal battles that they must wake up to and focus their eyes on. This is no time to slumber. The minute you first heard the torah you were excited and later you figured you were part of Yisra'el and you thought the shofar(torah) would protect you but you you weren't warned by the sound of the shofar any more. These will not awake from their slumber nor rise from the pit. They shall die in the darkness of their eyes because thier eyes were not secured by the sound of the shofar. Their enemies will come upon them in a moment that they were not ready for. This is like the popular teaching in the messianic movement that obediance and commandment keeping (ie the sound of the shofar (torah)) was no longer a warning because it had nothing to do with salvation and safety the other meaning of salvation. They turned it into an instrument of praise and forgot it is a warning and who will save them when they are caught unawares by the enemy. This is a bad teaching about the commandments and should be fully rejected. It is just another lie drifting in from christianity. The sound of the shofar is real and the fear of YHWH is real in them who are fearfull at the commandments of Elohim and at the sound of the shofar.

Amo 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?

A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
