From Moshe to Yahushua - Are we ready?
From Moshe to Yahushua
For Parasha Vezot HaBracha
By Lovingneighbor 10-1-2007
This weeks Parasha is in the book of Devarim also called Deuteronomy, and is called Vezot HaBracha which means 'And this is the Blessing'. In this weeks parasha:
- Moshe blesses Yisra'el before his death
- YHWH loves and blesses His saints
- Moshe commanded and lived righteousness
- Yahudah's blessing He shall be brought to his people and get help from his enemies
- Levi blessed as torah teachers and ministers of YHWH
- Benyamin blessed with safety and covering
- Yosef blessed with precious things of heaven, and the Earth and shall reunite the people
- Zevulun blessed in the sukkot, and in abundance of the seas and treasures of the sand
- Gad blessed as judges of the people
- Dan blessed as a young lion and drawn from a fertile land
- Naftali blessed with the favor of YHWH
- Asher blessed with children and the spirit of judgment
- Yisra'el shall dwell in safety because Elohim is with them
- Moshe sees the promised land from Mount Nevo
- Moshe dies on Mount Nevo at the age of 120 years old
- Yisra'el mourns Moshe's death 30 days
- Yahushua son of Nun takes over for Moshe and has a spirit of wisdom
- No prophet like Moshe had risen in Yisra'el since then
- Haftarah YHWH commands Yahushua to take the promised land
- Haftarah No men shall be able to stand before you when Elohim is with you
- Haftarah Yahushua reminded not to forget to keep all the law exactly as Moshe commanded
- Haftarah Yahushua tells people prepare food for in three days they will cross Yarden and take the land
- Haftarah Reuven, Gad, and Menasheh remember promise to help their brothers take the land
In this weeks portion we have a final event in the dramatic story of the Exodus. We have the final blessing from Moshe as he passes away and leadership transfers from Moshe to Yahushua. They have made it this far and been through all the trials and tribulations and it is much like a father gives his daughter over to another man who will lead her. It is a happy and sad occasion. It is the passing of the authority and the blessings put upon the new couple. Moshe was as a father to Yisra'el Teaching her the basics and the way in which she should go. Preparing her to enter in to the promised land. This entering in is done by Yahushua who will take them into themselves and the second great test of their lives. One is to trust in Elohim, learn His ways and make it through the cleansing in the wilderness. Where we have seen some fail and some succeed. The second test is once in and blessed will they forget Elohim. These two tests areall throughout the scriptures. How you act when given little and how you at when given much. Both develop character traits and test a persons relationship with Elohim. Just as in the wedding vows it says for richer or poorer, sickness and health. These contrasts show that this mairrage and union is one that will be constant through the good and bad. Sometimes the good times lead to complacency and sometimes the bad times rip people apart instead of the people working together they tear at their only friends. The world is too hard to go it alone. Whether we are talking about friends, a wife, or Elohim. These relationships are precious and require energy to flourish. It requires effort and if both parties work at it, it will be a blessing in times of good and plenty. Let's take a long hard look at our relationships with our friends and see if their is something better we can do, less tearing down, and more building up, let's look at our husbands and wives and say what more can I add to enrich this relationship every day and what can I stop doing that is tearing it down, and let's look at our relationship with Elohim and His Torah and say what can I do to strengthen our relationship, can I study more or am I not putting enough effort, Can I pray more, can I think more on His words and what bad habits can I get rid of to be more holy to my Elohim.
As we go from Moshe to Yahushua we enter a whole new trying and exciting time. Let's examine ourselves and see if Moshe (ie the Torah) has prepared us to meet our Mashiach. Are we ready to have Mashiach here right now. Have we learned all we need from Moshe. As we finish the Torah cycle we are left at Yahushua's feet. Are you ready for that moment because every year we are brought to the door, brought to the feet of Yahushua. If Moshe died and Torah was taken away from you right now would you be OK. Have you stored up enough treasure to survive the famine. Every year we are brought to the death of Moshe and feet of Yahushua as new leader in Yisra'el as in my opinion a warning to prepare. To be prepared for that day. If you didn't do a good enough job studying Torah You should be warned and study harder this next Torah cycle. The Cycle begins again will you do the same mistakes ths year, will you be as lazy this year though given another chance. And how many chances will you waste before the actual day of Mashiach arrives. In the famine there is no more time for planting. You have what you have. Let's make this the best Torah cycle ever and be preprared for that great day when we go from Moshe to Yahushua. Shalom!
A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
