Prepare Your Children
For the Book of Devarim
By lovingneighbor 2006-7

This Study is on the book of Deuteronomy also called Devarim which means 'Words'. In this book we have written the studies:

- The Weak made Strong - Parasha Devarim
- The Way, the Truth, and the Life - Parasha Va'etchanan
- From Father to Son - Parasha Ekev
- Before You - Parasha Re'eh
- Examine the Witnesses - Parasha Shoftim
- For the Good of All - Parasha Ki Tetze
- To Taste of the Heavenly Things - Parasha Ki Tavo
- Coming of Age - Parasha Nitzavim/Vayelech
- Ask Your Father - Parasha Ha'azinu
- From Moshe to Yahushua - Parasha Vezot Ha'bracha

In this years reading of the book of Devarim we see a strong message of our duties as a father. Multiple studies have this concepts and focus on the relationship between the father and son mentioned. 'The weak are made strong' by their father who teaches them all things. The wife also is responsible to learn her husbands ways and also help him to accomplish his goals for the children. How many families and wives have this goal. It reminds me of a analogy I once heard about goal setting. They said it not setting or having a puropse or goal is like hockey without the nets. I think this is so true and yet how many families have an actual goal clear in their mind for each individual. This is how you make use of your time and make sure your growing on the right course you have to have a clear goal you can see and know what your trying to achieve. Husbands you must first have it so you can share it with your wives and wives you must make it your goal. We aren't just growing wild like weeds. We must ave a vision of how the family is going to look and you get that from your husband. This is like 'the Way, the Truth, and the Life'. Messiah has such a goal already laid out for His wife and family. Have we learned it? Are His goals our goals? For most people they are just skating around the ring bashing into each other or avoiding conflict without a real purpose. The only way we learn these things, the Way, Truth, and Life is from 'Father to Son'. It has to be passed on through the responsibility of the fathers. Your Wife and Children are 'Before you'. If you don't teach them they will bear witness to who you are good or bad.

You can know a man by his wife and kids. All you have to do is 'Examine the Witnesses' and you'll know what kind of man he is. You will know a tree by it's fruit. If he is in line with Torah and studies so that he has something to give his wife and children for which there are commandments to teach both of them all the commandments of YHWH. If he does his job as a leader it will be 'For the good of all'. You will then successfuylly transfer the spirit of the father to the children and this is the concept of both being echad or one with your father as Messiah is and also prolonging your days. When you children who have th same spirit as you grow they as it says carry on your name or authority. They come in the name of their father. This goes to what Mashiach sai when they asked Him by what authority He does these things.

Mat 21:23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority do you these things? and who gave you this authority?
Mat 21:24 And Yahushua answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Mat 21:25 The baptism of Yochannan, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did you not then believe him?
Mat 21:26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold Yochanan as a prophet.
Mat 21:27 And they answered Yahushua, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

I beleive the answer was by the authority of the Father in Heaven, by whom if your earthly father served then his sons would also serve but if it is from men then it is not from Elohim because He is the only real authority. This may be why he tells the people if they were from Avraham they would have Avraham's works which was to serve YHWH but they were from their father the devil. 'To taste of the Heavenly things' from their Father in Heaven they would need to be His sons and have His fruit. Otherwise the scriptures would be broken. This is th part people still just don't get. They want to be His sons and not have His works. Just as Mashiach had His works his wife would also need to be one and have His works or she would corrupt the son as we see in many scriptures. You cannot be part of the family or fruit of the tree and not be of like kind.

This brings us to the 'Coming of Age'. The time when all that the Father needed to do to prepare you is done and now you are going to be accountable ready to go into battle and if you didn't receive the training necessary your death would be on your fathers hands. There is no mercy in lazyness. 'Ask your father' and he will tell you of his own mistakes and once you come of age you stop needing to be told to study and told to do things you should start dircting yourself. Seeking after Elohim and to honor your father and prolong his days by being like him yourself. This step is often overlooked and this is where you have children who just do it because that is al they ever knew and out of lazyness they keep doing it. Instead of picking up the reigns and searching for their own drive. Their fathers would have driven them up until this point but if they don't stand on their own to desire to be pleaseing to their father and a builder of his name and to please Elohim then they never will. Thus the whole work of Moshe and their father would be in vain because they could not go out and do it on their own with their own convictions. Their father will die and his name will become vain. This is like returning to the Torah cycle again from the beginning. What if one day we had learned all we were supposed to from the Torah and were ready to learn from Yahushua. What if we reached the day when Moshe said I have taught them all I can, here you go Yahushua take them from here. What a great and glorious day that would be going 'From Moshe to Yahushua'. Father's do your job and wives and sons do yours also. Fathers prepare your children to be handed over to Yahushua. Give them the basics that you are supposed to so that like the talents they are not taken from you and given to someone who will cause them to increase in YHWH's word.

Job 8:7 Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end should greatly increase.
Job 8:8 For enquire, I pray you, of the former age, and prepare yourself to the search of their fathers:
Job 8:9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
Job 8:10 Shall not they teach you, and tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

Shalom!

A disciple should diligently search for the truth and humbly deny and reconsider it's possession.
